CNC-ready versions of Sherline machines include all the features, handwheels and accessories that come with the standard version of that model. In addition, stepper motor mounts are installed and ready to accept your own stepper motor and CNC applications. Shown here is the model 5400 deluxe mill with stepper motor mounts installed. The handwheels are included and can be mounted to the end of the stepper motors to maintain manual control when needed. Big machine features brought down to size
The Sherline stepper motor mounts offer smooth, accurate transfer of input by utilizing a flexible coupler that drives the leadscrew through a ball bearing. Behind the bearing is a nut that allows you to preload the bearing to eliminate play. The mount is sized to accept popular stepper motors with a NEMA 23 frame size.

The mounts are ready to accept a standard NEMA 23 frame size stepper motor. The enclosed design keeps chips out of the dampened coupling. An adjustable preload nut eliminates endplay in the leadscrew. |
Sherline can supply a high-quality stepper motor that is appropriate for applications using Sherline tools. It bolts right onto the Sherline stepper motor mounts and provides 100+ oz-in of torque (2 amp). It also features dual shafts, so handwheels can be mounted to the end of the stepper motor for manual control when desired. The Sherline part number is 67127 (with flats on shaft and plug for Sherline controller) or 67130 (with flats on shaft and 6 raw wire leads).
